The full name of MVA is Multi-domain Vertical Alignment, which was developed by Fututong in 1998. Its performance is between TN and IPS screens. Therefore, when pressure is applied, the liquid crystal molecules will be arranged horizontally, so that the backlight can smoothly pass through the layers.


Because of this principle, MVA sacrifices the advantages of brightness and response time, but MVA has softer colors, wider viewing angles and contrast. As the IPS display has begun to reduce costs and popularized the entry-level market, the cost of MVA will also change. According to relevant experts predict that the cost of MVA will soon be reduced, and will occupy a larger entry-level screen market. Compared with IPS, the brightness of MVA is insufficient, but the color will be softer, and the performance of MVA's low light leakage will also be chased by many users.


2. PLS and IPS screen


The full name of PLS is Super PLS (Plane-to-Line), which belongs to a panel developed and manufactured by Samsung with exclusive technology. The full name of IPS is In-Plane Switching. The characteristics of PLS are almost the same as IPS. It has the characteristics of IPS "hard screen": good brightness, fast response speed, but high light leakage rate. This is exactly the opposite of the characteristics of MVA, which belongs to "soft screen". For the comparison between PLS and IPS screens, PLS displays are still better than IPS in terms of viewing angle and brightness, so in the evaluation, there is an order of PLSIPS> MVA.


For the "hard screen", high light leakage is inevitable, even Samsung's original screen also has problems in this regard. As the brand choice of PLS, it is divided into original factory and non-original factory. The original factory is produced by Samsung, and the non-original factory mainly includes the two brands of AOC and Philips. The prices of the two are also very different.
